Local Rationality

The principle of “Local Rationality” says that what people do makes sense to them at the time - given their goals, attentional focus and knowledge - otherwise they wouldn’t be doing it.

In other words, decisions are rational to the decision maker because they are based on the information available to them, in the situation they are in and their goals at that particular point in time.
