Marcus Aurelius

Marcus Aurelius Antoninus was a Roman emperor who lived from 121 to 180 AD. He ruled the Roman empire between between 161 and 180 AD alongside his adoptive brother, who reigned under the name Lucius Verus.

Marcus was a Stoic and a lot of modern understanding about Stoicism comes from the 12 books he wrote, believed to have been written for himself and not meant to be published, now known as the Meditations.
